How VeilGuard compares.

Three honest tables: what VeilGuard does, what the well-known alternatives do, and what they have that VeilGuard doesn't yet.

How to read the tables

VeilGuard's columns are checked against the shipping code and docs. Other products are checked against their makers' own product pages, documentation and store listings, not tested by us. Numbers link to notes under each table. Spotted a mistake? Tell us and we'll fix it.

Android keyboard

VeilGuard Keyboard vs other phone keyboards.

Compared with the keyboards people actually use: Gboard (Google), Microsoft SwiftKey, Samsung Keyboard, Grammarly Keyboard and the open-source FUTO Keyboard. VeilGuard is a full everyday keyboard; the difference is that it also checks what you are about to send.

Browser extension

VeilGuard extension vs other browser protection.

VeilGuard does two jobs that are usually sold separately, so it is compared with both kinds of tool:

  • Nightfall AI and Harmonic Security: business browser extensions that stop sensitive data going into AI tools.
  • Microsoft Purview in Edge for Business: Microsoft's data loss prevention built into the Edge browser for Microsoft 365 E5 organisations.
  • Malwarebytes Browser Guard and Guardio: consumer extensions against phishing, scams and malicious sites.

Windows app

VeilGuard for Windows vs endpoint DLP.

On the desktop, the tools that check what leaves a PC are enterprise endpoint data loss prevention (DLP) suites: Microsoft Purview Endpoint DLP, Netskope One Endpoint DLP, Cyberhaven, Endpoint Protector by Netwrix (formerly CoSoSys) and Forcepoint DLP. They need a managed agent and a management server or cloud tenant, and they go deeper on device control. VeilGuard is a per-user tray app that works on its own and focuses on what you paste and send into AI and chat apps. Consumer security suites are left out: they don't check what you type into apps.
